How our mobile cabinets are built

Mobile cabinets offer flexibility, allowing the work area to be easily adapted to suit changing requirements. Typically used beneath framework-supported benching, these are available in a wide range of designs, including single and double width cupboards & drawers, combinations thereof plus filers and tray units. They are supported on castors offering free movement, the front pair being lockable to secure the cabinets as required.

Full depth shelves are fitted as standard, with half depth on request, excluding sink units.

As with all of our furniture, cabinets are made to order in our own facility in Essex. We do not deliver flatpack to ensure the quality of assembly.

Parametric designs enable most cabinet designs to be freely sized, within manufacturing bounds, to suit the installation. For more information on our cabinetry offerings including Mobile units, see the cabinetry section on page 20 of the Technical Brochure or contact us.

Where mobile units suit

Mobile cabinets are specified where the bench needs to do more than one job. Wheeling a unit out leaves a knee hole for a seated user or clear space for a piece of equipment, and wheeling it back restores the storage. That suits teaching and research space which gets rearranged between groups.

They sit beneath framework-supported benching rather than carrying the worktop themselves, so they pair with 3R, Cleanline or FlexModular rather than with Pedestal. A common arrangement is a mix: pedestal runs where storage is the priority, open framework with mobiles where the space needs to flex.

The front castors lock, which is worth specifying; an unlocked cabinet under a bench is a trip hazard.
