3R Steel Laboratory Benching
Classic all-steel benching framework.
How the 3R system is built
The 3R system is an all-steel, knock-down system utilising welded box section frames bolted into 3 fabricated steel rails. Two rails set back beneath the worktop edges provide reinforcement whilst a third at low level provides rigidity and a backstop for storage units.
Frames can be ‘H’, ‘C’ or cantilever ‘T’ type; freestanding benches will require ‘H’ or ‘C’ frames for stability, and are fitted with adjustable levelling feet.
Wholly pre-fabricated, this system is suitable for freestanding individual benches, runs of wall benching, pensinsulars etc. and offers rapid assembly.

Where 3R suits
3R is the most straightforward of our systems and generally the most economical, so it is the default choice where the layout is known and unlikely to change: teaching laboratories, QC and routine testing space, and wall runs in new build where the drawing and the building can be trusted to match. Being wholly pre-fabricated it also goes up quickly, which matters when the furniture package lands late in a construction programme.
Where a refurbishment is likely to throw up awkward site conditions, Cleanline gives the fitter more room to adapt on site. Where you need maximum storage beneath the bench, Pedestal uses the space more efficiently. A fuller comparison of all four systems is on the laboratory furniture page.
